TOUR OVERVIEW

Available for: Seniors, People with hearing impairment

Itinerary:

Bucharest – Urlati – Buzau – Mud Volcanoes – Meledic Plateau – Odobesti – Vrancioaia Seismic Detector – Covasna – Targu Secuiesc – Balvanyos – Baile Tusnad – Brasov – Busteni – Sinaia – Campina – Bucharest

Day 1: Bucharest

Transfer from Henry Coanda airport to Bucharest. Check in to a very nice three stars hotel in Bucharest. Then we’ll have a short sightseeing of Bucharest including the Parliament Palace, the second largest administrative building in the world after Pentagon (the USA), commissioned by our former communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.

 Day 2: Bucharest

After breakfast, we will visit a strange monastery five kilometers west from Bucharest called Chiajna, a tribute to both Lady Chiajna, a Princess consort of Wallachia and an out-of-the-box  castle built in a park in Bucharest. The castle is called Vlad Tepes Castle although it was built four hundred years after his death. Originally, the building was used as a water tower, but nowadays National Office for Heroes’ Memory uses the castle. Free time for walking and shopping.

Day 3: Bucharest – Urlati – Buzau – Mud Volcanoes – Meledic Plateau

Breakfast and a tour to the Mud Volcanoes in Buzau County. Since we are having a mystical tour, we might need some drinks to keep our courage alive☺. This why we set a break at a well-known wine-yard in Urlati for a wine tasting and some snacks. Our courage being refilled, we can visit the Buzioru Village with its strange appearances and disappearances, then the Living Fire on Meledic Plateau and at the end, for those who are still normally breathing (a joke, of course!), The Mud Volcanoes in Paclele Mari area. All of us, and we mean “all”, have accommodation in the area (Buzau).

Day 4: Meledic Plateau – Odobesti – Vrancioaia Seismic Detector – Covasna

Breakfast and departure into a new beautiful and strange adventure. Just like the day before, a short stop for a wine tasting party in Odobesti, an important wine-yard of Romania, is essential for  having a brave attitude. Now we are ready to face Living Fires of Andreiasu and Vrancioaia Seismic detector in the mountains. Accommodation in Covasna, a well-known healing resort where mineral waters are used to treat different illness, especially heart diseases – so everything should be under control!

Day 5: Covasna – Comandau – Covasna

Breakfast and time off. Those who still have some energy left, we have an optional off-road trip to Comandau and Lacauti Weather Station (at 1,777 metres altitude). Our itinerary includes a visit to a traditional sheepfold for a cheese tasting accompanied by some traditional alcoholic drinks made of plums or other fruits. Fairy tales (mystic, of course!) in the evening in front of a nice campfire in Fairy Valley. Accomodation in Covasna.

Day 6: Covasna – Targu Secuiesc – Balvanyos – Baile Tusnad – Brasov

After breakfast – back on the road to visit a `strange` region with visits to Targu-Secuiesc, Balvanyos, St. Ana’s Lake and Tusnad Balneary Resort. Everything will become strange and dangerous if you do not follow your guide! In Balvanyos there is a cave without any fresh air, while St. Ana’s Lake is a volcanic lake, formed in the only inactive volcano in Romania. Not far from it, there is Tinovul Mohos a strange kind of swamp where is strictly forbidden to enter without the local guide. Special Hungarian (Szeckler) lunch in Balvanyos. Accommodation in a 3 stars hotel in Brasov.

Day 7: Brasov – Busteni – Sinaia

Breakfast First stop on our itinerary: Busteni, a mountain resort from where we will take the cable car up to Bucegi Plateau. Here we will see the two very interesting and unique natural rock formations Babele (Old Ladies in Romanian) and The Sphinx. We will not tell you more in order not to do guide’s job, but just a hint: conspiracy theories say that Bucegi Mountains are the world’s most important energetic spot. Accommodation in a 3 stars hotel in Sinaia.

Day 8: Sinaia – Campina – Bucharest

Breakfast. Departure to Bucharest with a stop in Campina to visit the strange castle nicknamed `The Wizard’s Castle` or `The Spirits’ Temple`. The building is a tribute to a young girl who died at 19 years, Iulia Hasdeu – daughter of an important cultural Romanian figure. Our guide will share with you the rest of the stories. Accommodation in a 3 stars hotel in Bucharest.
